Community News Flash #30 May 22 nd, 2020 Upcoming Dates: Friday, May 22 Monday, May 25th Tuesday, May 26th Wednesday, May 27th Student Placement letters due Pro D Day - School Supply Pick up 9am - 11am Last Name A - G 12pm - 2pm Last Name H - M - School Supply Pick up 9am - 11am Last Name N - T 12pm - 2pm Last Name U Z Principal Message: Part-Time, Voluntary Return to School June 1, 2020 As you are continuing to learn, we are preparing our school for a part-time, voluntary return to school. Our number one priority will be student and staff health & safety and well-being. Our staff have been working hard during the past couple of weeks to pack up students belongings for retrieval, reorganize common and classroom spaces to promote physical distancing, declutter, clean and sanitize our school. We are working hard to prepare and be well organized for this new reopening to smaller numbers of students. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 5 will attend two days per week on Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday and Grade 6 and 7 will attend one day per week on days yet to be determined. We will do our best to keep siblings attending on the same schedule, so we will likely look at grouping students into Group A or Group B according to alpha by last name. Stay tuned for specific details. Students who choose to stay home will continue to be able to participate in their learning and complete curricular requirements through remote learning.

Below we have worked hard to create a succinct list of what school will look like, so that families can begin to make an informed decision about choosing to send children to school on June 1. Beginning next week, we will start to collect information about your family s intent to attend on site, or to remain at home and continue at-home learning. This information will likely be collected through a school survey or a quick curb-side check in with the Admin team during the Tuesday and Wednesday supply pick-up. We thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we once again readjust our school system to be able to offer a blended learning model for some of our students. Please continue to reach out to me through phone or with any questions or concerns. David Dekerf Part-Time, Voluntary Return to School June 1 If your child returns to school, you can expect the following: Health and safety checks every morning before your child enters the classroom. Parents and caregivers remain outside the school building for pick-up and dropoff at outside classroom doors. Parent / caregiver access to the office is limited. Communication with the office will occur by phone or , rather than in person. The main front school doors will be locked. Frequent and increased handwashing throughout the day, at every break, and every time students leave the room. Depending upon enrolment, potential for your child to be with a different teacher, different peers, or in a different classroom. We will attempt to keep students with their regular teacher and learning space. Some shelves and shared materials will be covered/papered off. Classroom walls and surfaces will be decluttered to assist new sanitation protocols. Loose parts, manipulatives, and toys will typically not be shared or used.

Spaced out seating, and encouragement to stay in one s own spot. Physical distancing efforts will be in place, although this cannot be guaranteed. Children will be required to bring their own supplies to school, and to take them home with them at the end of the day. Staggered recess and lunches. Slight adjustments to entry and exit times may also occur. Teachers and/or students may choose to wear masks. Please prepare your child for this difference. Music, library, French, band, gym, or LST will not be offered or take on a different format. More time will be spent outdoors, weather permitting. Please dress for the weather. Playground structures will be open but will be used in systematic ways to promote physical distancing. Review of curriculum already taught and supporting at-home learning in a tutorial model. Teachers may request students to bring own device from home. Social opportunities will be different and limited in some ways.

Student Supplies & Belongings Pick Up: On May 26 & 27 student's supplies and belongings can be picked up from the gym. There will be two ways to pick up your child's supplies. There will be a drive thru option, where you will enter from the North/East (Normally Exit) gates and then drive up towards the gym. There you will give your 'information ticket' to one of our staff members and they will retrieve your supplies from the gym. Or you can walk to the gym by entering the west (Normally Enter) and using social distancing line up outside the gym with your 'information ticket' and a staff member will retrieve the supplies. Please see the following schedule: May 26 May 26 May 27 May 27 9am - 11am Last Name A-G 12pm - 2pm Last Name H-M 9am - 11am Last Name N-T 12pm - 2pm Last Name U-Z If this schedule does not work for you please to make an alternate arrangement..

Please remember to return any outstanding Library Books and Home Reading Books when you pick you your child s supplies.
